2020 Race, Place & Diversity Symposium @ Gem Theater

KCFAA is uniting diverse communities not only through dance, but through dialogue and action. Our annual Race, Place & Diversity Symposium is designed to provide a platform that encourages a candid, healthy discussion on race, place and diversity. Our understanding shapes shared values in the Greater Kansas.  This year the symposium goal is to empower a connection between generations and its impact on race, Place and Diversity. Give voice to our youth and get wisdom from our community leaders.

Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey’s 2020 Symposium youth panel will discuss segregation, policing, violence, and social mobility and how that impact race, diversity and inclusion in the greater Kansas City region. The adult panel will react to the youth panel sharing their life lessons and wisdom about America’s continuing conversation about race, diversity and inclusion. Art matters with youth out and the symposium creates a platform to discuss issues of race, diversity and inclusion locally and regionally.  Our goal is to deliver information and experiences that will impact, inspire and influence one’s outlook on race, place and diversity.
